Hi there,
I am 31 years old and have been on a rollercoaster experience after finding a complex ovarian cyst back in June.
The whole story...
June 6 - ultrasound finding the complex mass they cannot rule out malignancy.
June 10 - MRI - finds the cyst to be complex with solid area, thin septations, no free fluid in pelvis, no swollen lymph nodes.
July 12 - First appointment with Gyno. He tells me he does not believe it is cancer but a mucinous adenoma (or something like that) I leave the appointment relieved but know i still need surgery to remove it. BUT... He calls me later that day saying he thinks we need to have a second opinion from the cross cancer institute but i need to have tumor markers and a ct scan of my entire torso before hand.
August 10 - The wait for a CT is over a month away so i pay for a private one. The radiologist gives me my results that day, everything was clear. No sign of anything outside of the cyst. Blood tumor markers also come back all clear.
Cross cancer appt is booked for September 11th.
I receive a phone call at the start of September from the cross cancer saying a tumor board has reviewed my scans and case and they do not believe i need to be seen at the cross cancer or by an oncologist and i can go back to the gyneacologist for surgery etc.
I am SO relieved!
Sept 20 - My surgery date. They remove the cyst, ovary and tube. I was not able to speak to the dr's afterwards, they just left me a note saying 'We found some abnormal appearing tissue on the ovarian cyst. We removed the right ovary and tube. Hysteroscopy was normal as well as left tube and ovary."
So now I am waiting for pathology results and am absolutely terrified of this 'abonormal tissue' that was found.
Does anyone have any knowledge to what they would be referring to? I am still terrified of cancer. I have no answers or any idea as i didn't get to speak to anyone afterwards.
Any information would be so greatly appreciated. The waiting is just awful.
Hugs to everyone going through this xoxo.
